Match Recap
Joaquín Pereyra scored twice against Los Angeles FC, and both strikes came at the right time. His 29th-minute opener set the tone for Minnesota United FC, Cherrion Valerius doubled it five minutes later, and Pereyra's second early in the second half meant Sergio Vasquez's reply for LAFC in the 89th arrived far too late to matter. It was also a reversal of history: Los Angeles FC had won both of the clubs' recent meetings in Major League Soccer, and sat sixth in the table, nine points above 13th-placed Minnesota. None of that stopped the visitors, who arrived with the better recent form and left with all three points from LAFC's own ground. Neither Pereyra nor anyone else on the field cracks the league's current top ten scorers, but his brace was enough to flip a lopsided head-to-head on its head. Watch Pereyra's second goal, the 81st-minute strike that put the game away before LAFC could even think about a comeback.
