Can Yilmaz Uzun announced himself to the Bundesliga in the boldest possible way, scoring twice to drive Eintracht Frankfurt to a commanding 3-1 victory away at FSV Mainz 05. The 21-year-old opened the scoring in the ninth minute, then watched Jonathan Burkardt double the lead with a goal right on the stroke of half-time, leaving Mainz with a mountain to climb. Uzun put the game to bed with his second on the hour mark, a finish that effectively ended the contest.
