Match Recap
Zambia needed a response after an opening qualifying defeat, and Aaron Kangwanda gave them exactly that inside two minutes, stabbing home to settle the nerves almost before kickoff had finished breathing. From there Zambia controlled the tempo against a Togo side that had arrived unbeaten, having opened their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a win. The visitors pushed for an equalizer that never properly arrived, and deep into stoppage time Eliya Mandanji punished them for it, rifling in a second goal in the 90+5th minute to turn a nervy one-goal lead into a comfortable 2-0 win. It flips the group picture: Togo's perfect start takes a hit, while Zambia climb off the foot of the table with three points of their own. Neither side has a player among the qualifiers' top scorers yet, with Gambia's E. Colley still out front on three, but Kangwanda's early strike and Mandanji's late killer are both worth watching back in full.
