Match Recap
Universitatea Cluj put on a one-sided demolition of Oţelul in Liga I, and the scoreline barely hints at how comfortable it was. Ovidiu Bic broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, and once Cluj's noses were in front, Oţelul never found an answer. Oucasse Mendy doubled the lead in the 80th minute, and Alibek Aliev capped the rout in second-half stoppage time to make it 3-0. It's a result that will lift Cluj's spirits after a rough patch, arriving on the back of two straight wins following a run of three defeats, while Oţelul's own inconsistent form continues. The head-to-head record between these two sides already favored the hosts, and this latest meeting only extended that dominance. None of Cluj's scorers threaten the league's top-of-the-table charge led by A. Cordea, but on this evening it didn't matter, three different players got on the scoresheet in a display of attacking depth. Watch how Bic's opener unravelled Oţelul's defense, and see Aliev's stoppage-time finish put the exclamation point on Cluj's biggest statement result of the season so far.
