Match Recap
Vitoria didn't just beat Chapecoense-sc, they dismantled them, with Erick and Matheuzinho each scoring twice to turn this Serie A fixture into a one-sided demolition. Erick opened the floodgates in the 18th minute, and when Matheuzinho doubled the tally early in the second half, Chapecoense-sc had no answer. Erick struck again in the 61st, Matheuzinho completed his brace in the 74th, and what started as a contest ended as a rout. It's a sharp turnaround from the sides' last meeting, a draw, and a big night for Vitoria, who move further clear of 20th-placed Chapecoense-sc in the standings despite neither side riding great form coming in. Neither Erick nor Matheuzinho threatens Kaio Jorge's spot atop the Serie A scoring charts yet, but four goals between them is the kind of night that gets a striker noticed. With two different players scoring twice in the same match, there's no single highlight here, there are four. Watch how Erick's second, in the 61st minute, snuffed out any hope of a Chapecoense-sc response.
