Hai Phong 1–2 Thanh Hóa

Hai Phong's own talisman couldn't save them. M. Makaric, the V.League 1's top scorer with 12 goals this season, leveled things in the 20th minute after Matheus Martins had put Thanh Hóa ahead inside a quarter of an hour, but that equalizer was as close as the hosts got. D. Thongkhamsavath restored Thanh Hóa's lead in the 57th minute, and Hai Phong never found another answer, slipping to a 1-2 home defeat. The result lifts Thanh Hóa to seventh with three points from two games, while Hai Phong sit tenth on the same tally. It's also a reversal from the only previous meeting between these sides, which ended in a draw. Watching the league's leading scorer net his side's lone goal only to see the points slip away anyway is the real story at full time.
