Match Recap
Sarmiento Junin stunned Liga Profesional Argentina leaders Estudiantes L.P. 2-0, handing the table-toppers a defeat that carries genuine weight given the 12-point gulf separating the two sides in the standings. M. Martinez put the home team ahead in the 18th minute, and Sarmiento spent the next hour protecting that lead against a side sitting on 31 points at the summit. G. Gonzalez made it safe in the 80th, ending any realistic hope of an Estudiantes recovery. The result also settles an account: in their only recent head-to-head, it was Estudiantes who had the last word. That loss feels distant now. Sarmiento arrive at this win on the back of four victories from their last five games, form that makes a clean sheet against the league's best side look less like fortune and more like a statement of intent. Watch how Gonzalez put it beyond doubt in the 80th minute.
