Match Recap
Vitoria finally got one over Botafogo. Matheuzinho's finish in the 27th minute gave the hosts a 1-0 victory in Serie A, their first win against this opponent across their last three meetings after three consecutive draws. The result could not have come at a better time for a Vitoria side that had gone four games without a win heading into this one, sitting 13th in the table with 26 points. Botafogo arrived with stronger recent form, 11th with 30 points and two wins from their last five outings, but left empty-handed after failing to find a way through once Matheuzinho put the home side ahead. Vitoria defended that single-goal lead from the 27th minute to the final whistle. For a team that had not beaten Botafogo in any of their last three attempts, watch the goal that finally changed that.
