A late leveler denied Atlas the win at home as Luís André Leite Esteves struck in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time to cancel out Ángel Azuaje's 23rd-minute opener, sending Atlas and U.N.A.M. - Pumas to a 1-1 draw in Liga MX. Azuaje's early finish had the visitors in control for most of the half, but Atlas kept pushing right up to the break and got the reward their pressure deserved. Neither side arrives in great form, Atlas sit 9th with just two wins in five, Pumas one place further back on 11th, and history offered little separation either: the two clubs have split results in their last two meetings, with a win apiece. This draw does nothing to change that pattern. With the league's top scorer Joao Pedro Galvao sitting on 25 goals elsewhere, the finishing on show here was more about timing than quality, and Esteves' stoppage-time equalizer is exactly the kind of moment that's better seen than described.
