Match Recap
Akron shook off a miserable start to their Premier League campaign, ending a run of five games without a win by seeing off Akhmat 2-0 at home. Gilson Benchimol got things moving inside five minutes, striking early enough to settle any nerves, and his goal carries extra weight: he sits fifth in the league's scoring charts with nine goals, only five behind leader A. Sobolev. Akhmat, who arrived in considerably better form with two wins from their last five and sat above Akron in the table, pushed for a way back but found no answer, and karlen hovhannisyan put the result beyond doubt in the 87th minute. The two sides had met once before and shared the points in a draw, so this was Akron's first win over Akhmat on record. Catch both goals, including Benchimol's early strike from one of the league's most in-form scorers, in the highlights.
