Match Recap
Matheus Sávio needed just eight minutes to make this his night, scoring twice inside the first half as Urawa beat Tokyo Verdy 3-1 in the J1 League. His opener arrived in the 24th minute, a second followed eight minutes later, and by the time Harumi Minamino added a third just before the break, Verdy's resistance had cracked. Yuta Arai's 62nd-minute reply barely registered against a Urawa side that hadn't beaten this opponent in their last three meetings, two draws and a loss among them. It also extended Verdy's miserable run: still winless in five J1 League games, their DDLLD form standing in stark contrast to Urawa's LWWWL. Sávio's double and Minamino's clinical finish just before halftime turned a tight opening into a rout inside twenty minutes, exactly the kind of spell worth watching goal by goal.
