Match Recap
Alaves saved their cruelest work for the final minutes, turning a tense La Liga opener into a statement result against Getafe. After a scoreless first half and a quiet start to the second, Nahuel Tenaglia broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute, and from that point Getafe had no answer. What followed was stunning: M. Diaz added a second in the 90th minute, then M. Rodriguez buried a third four minutes into stoppage time, sealing a 3-0 victory that sends Alaves to the top of La Liga on the opening weekend. The timing matters, too. Alaves had not beaten Getafe in their last two meetings, going winless across both fixtures, yet on Sunday they dismantled them utterly by the end. Getafe, meanwhile, sit bottom of the table after one game, a tough introduction to the season. Two goals in the final five minutes of a shutout win is the kind of finish you have to see to believe.
