Match Recap
Cobán Imperial made quick work of the game plan, with J. Winter breaking through in the 12th minute to set the tone early at home. Malacateco never found an answer, and the hosts sealed it late when K. Valdez added a second in the 78th minute to make it 2-0. It's a result that evens an uneven ledger between the two Liga Nacional sides, who've traded wins and losses across their last four meetings, with Cobán Imperial now sitting on one win, one draw and two losses in that head-to-head stretch. Neither Winter nor Valdez troubles the league's scoring charts, where N. Martinez still leads the way on 21 goals, but on this night the two Cobán forwards were the only names that mattered. A clinical finish to open the scoring and a cushion-sealing strike to close it out, both from the home side, both worth seeing again. Catch Winter's 12th-minute opener and Valdez's late clincher in the highlights below.
