Match Recap
M. van Brederode had no business rescuing this one. KV Mechelen trailed Standard Liege 3-1 heading into the final ten minutes of their Jupiler Pro League clash at Mechelen, with A. Abid having put the visitors in firm control with his second goal of the night in the 65th minute. Van Brederode halved the deficit in the 89th with his ninth league goal of the season, good enough for fifth in the top-scorers chart, but three minutes seemed far too little time for more. Twelve minutes of stoppage time, it turned out, was plenty. The striker struck again in the 90+12 to split the spoils 3-3, erasing what had looked like a controlled away win for Standard Liege, who had opened up through B. Nguene in the ninth minute and rode Abid's brace to what seemed a decisive 3-1 lead. KV Mechelen's first point of the young league campaign came the hardest way possible. Every second of those 90+12 is worth watching.
