Match Recap
Bulgaria arrived in Luxembourg with one point from three games and left with all three, flipping the form table on its head. Kristiyan Balov broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, then Atanas Iliev doubled the lead on 34 minutes, and that early one-two was enough to see out a comfortable 2-0 win in UEFA Nations League play. It rewrites the head-to-head script, too: Luxembourg had won the only previous meeting between these two, but Bulgaria answered in style this time. The numbers actually favored the hosts going in, Luxembourg sat third with three points and a win in their last three, while Bulgaria had lost or drawn every recent outing, yet none of that showed once Balov and Iliev got going. Harry Kane still leads the scoring charts elsewhere in the competition with six goals, a reminder of the gap these two strikers just closed. Watch both goals, Balov's opener through to Iliev's 34th-minute finish, to see Luxembourg's home record come apart.
