Match Recap
Manta FC delivered one of Liga Pro's more eye-catching results of the week, shutting out Barcelona SC 2-0 at home despite carrying 16th-place standings into the match. J. Verges struck first in the 16th minute, giving the hosts an advantage they protected for the full 90, before J. Angulo wrapped it up in the 72nd to seal the clean sheet. The win is a first for Manta FC against this opponent in recent meetings, their only previous encounter having finished level. Barcelona SC arrived with 39 points and sixth place in the Liga Pro table but left without troubling the scoreboard, their last-five form of LWDLD now stretching another game without a victory. League scoring leader F. Posse sits on 11 Liga Pro goals and had no involvement here, and neither Verges nor Angulo ranks among the division's top ten, yet both found the net when it mattered most. The 16th-minute opener that set the tone is exactly the kind of goal you need to see to believe it.
