Match Recap
Atletico Madrid turned a tight derby with Real Madrid in their favor with a two-goal burst inside seven minutes: Alejandro Grimaldo broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, and Jonathan David doubled the lead in the 59th before Real Madrid pulled one back. The 2-1 win lifts Atletico to fourth in La Liga on 13 points, level in form but a shade behind a Real Madrid side sitting second on 15 with four wins from five. It also squares the recent head-to-head between these two, with Atletico taking their first win in this fixture after a loss in the other meeting. Neither side has an entry in the league's scoring charts this weekend, with Kylian Mbappe still out front on 41 for the season and untouched by either goal here. What this game lacked in table-topping names it made up for in tempo, Atletico seizing control in the second half and never letting Real Madrid find an equalizer. Watch how Grimaldo's opener unravels Real Madrid's shape, and how David pounces just minutes later to put the derby out of reach.
