New Mexico United 3–1 Monterey Bay

Chris Dennis did it twice before the half-hour mark, and New Mexico United never looked back in a 3-1 win over Monterey Bay. Dennis opened the scoring in the 20th minute and doubled it nine minutes later, giving the hosts a cushion they'd need as Monterey Bay pushed for a way back into the USL Championship clash. George Hurst made it three in the 56th, striking just four minutes before Sebastian Lletget pulled one back for the visitors. Hurst's goal was no small footnote either, it's his sixth of the season and keeps him inside the league's top ten scorers, trailing only the likes of chart-leader Preston Goodrum's eight. The result stretches the gap between these two sides, with New Mexico United sitting second in the standings against Monterey Bay down in 12th. Two goals in nine minutes from one player is the kind of start that decides a match before halftime, catch both Dennis strikes and Hurst's clincher in the highlights.
