Match Recap
Houston Dynamo came to Charlotte in second place in Major League Soccer, sitting on 40 points with back-to-back wins already in the bank. They left with one point instead of three. Charlotte, fifth on 36 points and unbeaten in four of their last five, had the form to back up the confidence it takes to hold a side of Houston's quality scoreless. For the Dynamo, a draw on the road snaps that winning run but stops well short of a crisis, the kind of result that keeps you in the race without pushing you further clear of it. For Charlotte, a clean sheet against the second-placed team in Major League Soccer is not nothing. Three wins from their last five outings suggest a side that knows how to grind, and tonight they ground well. How close either team came to breaking through is the question the highlights will answer.
