Match Recap
Johannes Eggestein did everything he could to drag Austria Vienna back into this one, scoring twice, but Ried's five-minute burst in the first half proved decisive in a 3-2 Bundesliga thriller. Eggestein opened the scoring in the 18th minute, only for Stefan Schwab and Philipp Pomer to flip the game on its head within ten frantic minutes. Isaac Thelin made it 3-1 in the 82nd before Eggestein's stoppage-time strike set up a nervy finish that ultimately came too late. The result tightens Ried's grip on fifth place with 11 points from five games, while Austria Vienna, winless in four of their last five, slip to tenth. It's a satisfying reversal for Ried, too, having lost their only previous meeting with this Austria Vienna side. Five goals, a two-goal striker on the losing end, and a finish that stayed alive until the 92nd minute. Watch how Thelin's goal broke Austria Vienna's resistance, and how close Eggestein came to completing an improbable comeback.
