Match Recap
Cruzeiro refused to let Corinthians escape with a point, as Wanderson's 82nd-minute strike sealed a 2-1 victory at Neo Química Arena and kept the visitors firmly in the top half of the Serie A table. The visitors had gone ahead through Bruno Rodrigues in the 36th minute, only for Gustavo Henrique to level things up after the break with a 58th-minute equalizer that seemed to have earned the hosts a share of the spoils. It wasn't to be. Wanderson had other ideas, and Cruzeiro moved to 33 points, one point clear of a Corinthians side that now sits nine points below the current top scorer in the division, Kaio Jorge's league-leading 23 goals a reminder of how tight the competition for firepower has become. For Corinthians, the head-to-head record grows more uncomfortable: no wins in their last three meetings against Cruzeiro, just two draws and now a second defeat. Wanderson's late strike, the decisive moment in a match that seemed headed for stalemate, is exactly the kind of goal worth watching back.
