Match Recap
Western Sydney Wanderers trailed Auckland early, then blew the game apart. Lirim Vicelich put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute, but Brandon Borrello leveled things before halftime and the Wanderers turned the A-League clash into a rout, scoring four more times after the break. Luke Gillion and Nestor Milanovic struck in quick succession right out of the interval, Borrello added his second in the 68th, and Matthew Di Pizio and Adam Waraga piled on late to seal a 5-2 demolition. It's a result that flips the head-to-head between these two: Western Sydney lost the last meeting, but came out on top this time. Auckland sit top of the table after the opener, Western Sydney eighth, but on this night the gulf on the pitch looked wider than the standings suggest. Seven goals, a two-goal day for Borrello, and a comeback that turned into a landslide, this is a highlights reel worth watching from Vicelich's opener through to Waraga's 89th-minute finish.
