Arbroath 1–2 Morton

Morton arrived at Gayfield on a five-game losing streak and sitting bottom of the Championship, but none of that showed in the opening quarter. G. Gillespie put the visitors ahead inside 10 minutes, and when C. Dewar doubled it just after the break, Arbroath looked set for another frustrating afternoon despite their own patchy form. J. MacIntyre's reply two minutes later gave the home side hope, but Morton held on for a 2-1 win that snapped their winless run and handed Arbroath a rare loss to a side they'd beaten in their last meeting.
