Match Recap
Mantova silenced the Olimpico on Thursday night, stunning Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia to advance at the expense of their Serie A hosts. The visitors soaked up pressure through the first hour before F. Ruocco broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, giving the away side the lead they needed to defend. Lazio pushed for a response but never found one, and I. Cajazzo buried the tie in the sixth minute of stoppage time to finish off a composed, disciplined away performance. Neither scorer features among the Coppa Italia's leading marksmen, with M. Baturina still setting the pace at the top of the charts with three goals, but Ruocco and Cajazzo had no trouble writing their own story here. Cajazzo converting in the 90th-plus-sixth with Lazio still pressing for anything is the kind of late knife-twist that highlights exist for.
