Match Recap
Niger looked in control by halftime, and the goals came fast. Daniel Sosah broke through in the 38th minute, and Oumar Sako doubled the lead right on the stroke of half-time to put this Africa Cup of Nations qualifier firmly in Niger's hands. Lesotho refused to fold, though. Sera Motebang cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 85th minute, turning a comfortable-looking scoreline into a nervy finish as the visitors pushed for a leveler that never came. Niger held firm through the closing minutes to see out the win, a result that keeps their qualification campaign on track while Lesotho will rue not finding that equalizer sooner. Neither side has a player among the league's current top scorers, with M. Munetsi still topping that chart elsewhere in the competition, but this match had its own drama regardless. Two goals in three minutes before the break, then a nail-biting final quarter-hour. Watch how Sako's stoppage-time strike set the tone, and see if Motebang's 85th-minute finish had Niger sweating at the whistle.
