Match Recap
PSM Makassar needed until the 74th minute to break down Persebaya Surabaya, but Yakob Fernandes made it count, slotting home the only goal of the match to hand the hosts a 1-0 win in Liga 1. On paper this looked like a tough ask for PSM: they sit 13th with just five points from five games and a patchy WLDDL run, while Persebaya arrive in 8th on nine points off a steadier DWDWD streak. The two sides' recent head-to-head history offered little hint either way, split evenly with one win apiece and a draw from their last two meetings, so Fernandes' late strike was the difference-maker rather than a formality. Neither side has a player among Liga 1's top ten scorers, with D. da Silva's 21 goals still well clear of the pack, so this was a result built on grit and timing rather than star power. For Persebaya, the frustration will be in creating little to answer with. For PSM, it's a result that steadies the ship after a rocky start to the campaign. Watch how Fernandes finds the space to finish in the 74th minute, the goal that settled it.
