Match Recap
Independiente del Valle had to come from behind to beat Aucas 2-1 in Liga Pro, and the table leaders made it look harder than it should have been. Piero Guzmán Arrobo put Aucas ahead in the 33rd minute, silencing the home crowd, but Independiente del Valle's response was emphatic: Hugo Quintana leveled things in the 56th, and Steven Góngora Palacios turned the game on its head in the 74th. The win stretches Independiente del Valle's grip on first place to 74 points, with three wins in their last five, while Aucas slip to fourth on 50 despite arriving on the back of two straight victories. The head-to-head tilts the home side's way too, unbeaten in their last two meetings with Aucas. Neither side has a player among the league's top ten scorers this season, so this comeback was built on collective nerve rather than individual brilliance. Watch how Góngora Palacios' 74th-minute strike flipped the result in our highlights below.
