Universitario 2–2 FBC Melgar

Alex Valera single-handedly dragged Universitario back from the brink, scoring twice in two minutes to snatch a 2-2 draw against FBC Melgar in the Primera División. For most of the night this looked like a statement win for the visitors: Bernardo Cuesta put Melgar ahead in the 39th minute, and Cristian Bordacahar doubled the lead early in the second half. Universitario, second in the table on 49 points and chasing a better head-to-head record after losing their last meeting with Melgar, needed something special, and Valera delivered it. His first goal in the 84th minute set up a frantic finish, and two minutes later he struck again to complete the turnaround and deny fourth-placed Melgar what would have been a huge result in their current form. Neither side's scorers rank among the league's top ten, where E. Castillo's 20 goals still lead the way, but this match had its own drama to spare. Watch how Valera's 86th-minute equalizer unfolds, and see exactly how Universitario snatched a point that looked gone just moments earlier.
