Tim Akinsola single-handedly dragged Cercle Brugge off the bottom of the Jupiler Pro League table, scoring twice in the second half to turn a bleak run around. Cercle had arrived at this one with no wins in five and four straight defeats, sitting 18th, but Akinsola struck in the 48th and 61st minutes to put the hosts firmly in control. Antwerp, sitting mid-table on 10 points despite their own wobbly form, hit back through M. Fofana in the 81st minute, but it arrived too late to rescue anything from Brugge. It also reversed recent history between the two: Cercle had lost the only previous meeting on record against Antwerp without scoring. Neither side features among the league's leading scorers chasing N. Tresoldi's 23 goals, but on this night it didn't matter, Akinsola was the whole story.
