Match Recap
Sporting Gijon looked in control after Alejo Sarco put them ahead in the 17th minute, but Albacete, winless and rock bottom of the Segunda División table, refused to fold quietly. Jesus Vallejo leveled things up in the 86th minute, threatening to snatch a point that would have been Albacete's first result of any kind in five games. Instead, Cesar Gelabert had the final word, firing home in the fifth minute of stoppage time to hand Sporting Gijon a dramatic 2-1 win and extend their run to four victories in five, climbing to fourth in the standings. For Albacete, it's another defeat to add to a form line of five straight losses, a gap that now stretches to eighteen points between the two sides. Neither Miguel de la Fuente nor the league's other big scorers were involved here, but Gelabert's late strike didn't need a famous name to sting. Watch how the Albacete defense unravels in those final five minutes, and see Gelabert's winner land in real time in the highlights below.
