Match Recap
PSV Eindhoven arrived in Amsterdam on a four-win streak and left with a statement. Ricardo Pepi, the Eredivisie's top scorer with 16 goals, needed just five minutes to break the deadlock, giving PSV an early stranglehold on the De Klassieker. Tolu Arokodare pulled Ajax level in the 23rd minute and the home side briefly had belief, but Lutsharel Geertruida's strike on the stroke of half-time flipped the game back in PSV's favour at the worst possible moment for the hosts. Ajax never recovered, and Esmir Bajraktarević sealed the 3-1 scoreline deep into stoppage time. PSV move to 13 points from five Eredivisie games, unbeaten in their last five, while Ajax sit on seven points with a patchy LWDW run to show for the early season. The only recent meeting between these clubs ended level; this one was anything but. Pepi's fifth-minute opener is where it all began, and it is well worth seeing.
