Match Recap
Phil Foden ran riot with a hat-trick as Manchester City put five past AEK Athens FC in the UEFA Champions League, turning the game into a one-sided demolition before half-time was even done. Elliot Anderson opened the scoring in the 12th minute, Foden doubled the lead on 34, and by the time he completed his treble in the 76th, City had long since buried any doubt. Rayan Cherki added his name to the scoresheet too, and Stavros Pilios' 52nd-minute reply for AEK barely registered as a speed bump. Both sides arrived level on points and games played, each carrying a loss and a win into this one, but only City's form curve points upward now. Neither Foden nor anyone else involved cracks the league's scoring charts yet, where H. Kane still sits well clear on 17, but performances like this are how that gap starts to close. For AEK, the damage is done and the questions are many. Watch Foden's second, a clinical finish in the 65th minute that turned a comfortable lead into a rout, below.
