Match Recap
T. Guddal needed only two minutes to turn this UEFA Europa League tie into a rout, scoring twice in the 20th and 22nd minutes before Sparta Praha's night caught fire completely. J. Mercado made it three just after the hour, and although Ararat-Armenia's B. R. Wilson Valdez briefly gave the home crowd something to cheer with a reply, P. Vydra restored order in the 71st minute to seal a 4-1 demolition. It fits a pattern: Sparta have now beaten Ararat-Armenia in both of their previous meetings without dropping a point against them. Ararat-Armenia sit second in the Europa League table on the back of one win from two games, which makes this a rare setback; Sparta, starting from the bottom of the standings, could hardly have made a louder statement. None of the five goalscorers currently sit among the league's top ten, but Guddal's opening burst is the reason to press play, two goals in two minutes that decided the match before it had even reached the half-hour mark.
