Match Recap
Philadelphia Union tore apart San Diego in one of Major League Soccer's most lopsided results of the season, five unanswered goals turning what should have been a tight encounter between two sides level on 30 points into a statement night for the visitors. Cavan Sullivan set the tone with a brace, heading into the half-time tunnel having struck in stoppage time at 45+5, then doubling his account just past the hour. Bruno Damiani made it three at 67, and San Diego, already broken, could only watch as Aníbal Godoy added a fourth at 87 and Malik Jakupovic drove in the fifth deep in added time. Union arrive at this result off a five-game unbeaten run, three wins and two draws, and they looked every bit like a side that has found its form at exactly the right moment. Sullivan's brace is the place to start when you hit play.
