Match Recap
Ronaldo Martinez did everything right for Velez Sarsfield, scoring twice before Platense snatched a point in the dying minutes. Martinez struck in the 5th minute, only for Bautista Merlini to level almost immediately in the 7th, setting the tone for a seesaw afternoon in the Liga Profesional Argentina. Martinez restored the lead in the 54th minute and Velez looked set to hold on, sitting third in the table with 28 points against Platense's 16 points and 12th place. But Franco Zapiola Yamartino had other ideas, firing home in the 88th minute to salvage a 2-2 draw for a Platense side that arrived on the back of a rough run. It continues a familiar script between the two: Velez have never lost to Platense in their last two meetings, winning one and drawing the other. Rewind to the 88th minute to watch Zapiola Yamartino crush Velez Sarsfield's celebration in real time.
