Match Recap
Four goals in the opening 39 minutes and the Los Angeles Galaxy still couldn't shake San Diego. Klauss broke through inside the fourth minute, Anders Dreyer leveled almost immediately, Erik Thommy restored the hosts' lead by the 17th, and Gabriel Pirani popped up again right before halftime to make it 2-2, a scoreline that held the rest of the way in Major League Soccer. For the Galaxy, eighth in the table on 39 points after three wins in their last five, it's a frustrating share of the spoils against a San Diego side sitting 13th and without a win in five. It's at least progress in this particular rivalry, since Los Angeles had lost both of their last two meetings with San Diego outright. None of Klauss, Dreyer, Thommy or Pirani crack the league's top-ten scoring charts, where L. Messi still leads with 56 goals, but Pirani's leveler, arriving right as the half-time whistle loomed, is the finish worth rewinding for.
