Match Recap
New York City FC left Utah with a clean sheet and three points, as a dominant second-half performance sealed a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer. Nicolás Fernández Mercau broke the deadlock just before half-time in the 41st minute, giving the visitors exactly the cushion they wanted heading into the break. Luighi Hanri Sousa Santos made it safe in the 61st, and Real Salt Lake — who have not won in their last five outings — could find no way back. The result pushes New York City FC to 32 points and keeps their top-half ambitions alive, while the hosts slip deeper into a run of form that reads LLDLL across their last five. Two goals, a shutout, and a road trip completed. Find out exactly how Fernández Mercau found the net before the whistle — and whether Santos' finish was even better.
