Phoenix Rising 1–3 El Paso Locomotive

Rene Rubin's brace bookends a five-goal El Paso Locomotive statement in the USL Championship, the last one arriving in the sixth minute of stoppage time to seal a 3-1 win at Phoenix Rising. Rubin opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and while Robert Czichos leveled things for Phoenix just before halftime, Emmanuel Calvillo restored the lead early in the second half before Rubin struck again deep into stoppage time to put the game away. The result stretches El Paso's perfect five-game run to open the season, top of the table on 43 points, while Phoenix's own promising form takes a dent despite sitting mid-table on 33. Rubin's double also pushes him into the league's top scorers, just behind leader P. Goodrum's tally. Two goals, a share of the golden boot picture, and a stoppage-time dagger to finish it off, Rubin's night deserves to be watched goal by goal in the highlights below.
