Match Recap
Tiquinho Soares needed just seven minutes to settle this one, and Botafogo never looked back. The Serie A clash with Chapecoense-sc ended 1-0, a scoreline that undersells how comfortable Botafogo made it look after that early strike. It's Botafogo's lone win in their last five, a stretch that had them sitting 13th with 36 points, but against Chapecoense-sc they look like a different side: this was their first meeting between the two clubs on record, and Botafogo made it count. Chapecoense-sc, 20th with 18 points and still searching for consistency despite a win in their last outing, couldn't find an answer to Soares' early blow and spent the rest of the match chasing the game. Kaio Jorge continues to lead the Serie A scoring charts with 25 goals, a reminder of the gap between the league's elite and nights like this one, where a single early goal is enough to decide it. Soares' seventh-minute finish set the tone and never let Chapecoense-sc back in. Watch exactly how he beat the keeper in the clip below.
