Match Recap
Palmeiras needed just ten minutes to settle this one. Maurício Magalhães Prado opened the scoring in the 6th minute, and Joaquín Piquerez doubled it four minutes later, leaving Atletico Paranaense chasing shadows for the rest of the night. It's a result that fits the form book: Palmeiras arrived second in Serie A on 63 points off a WWDWD run, while Atletico Paranaense sit third on 53 but have cooled lately with just two wins in five. The head-to-head read was just as one-sided, with Atletico Paranaense winless in their last meeting with this opponent, and Saturday did nothing to change that trend. For a club still chasing Kaio Jorge's 25-goal pace at the top of the scoring charts, Palmeiras didn't need a superstar moment here, just two clean finishes in the opening quarter-hour to make the points in a hurry. Want to see how fast it unraveled for Atletico Paranaense? Watch Piquerez's 10th-minute strike below and see the damage done before most fans had even settled in.
