Match Recap
Søren Tengstedt's 72nd-minute strike was enough to sink Excelsior at home, handing GO Ahead Eagles a 1-0 win and a second straight victory over their Eredivisie rivals after already beating them in their only previous meeting. Excelsior's defense held firm for over an hour before cracking, and the result tells the story of two sides heading in opposite directions: the Eagles climb to 14 points and 10th with a win in their last five, while Excelsior stay rooted in the relegation zone at 15th, still without a single victory in five matches and sinking deeper into an LLLLD slump. Neither side touched the Eredivisie's scoring charts, with R. Pepi's 17 goals still well out of reach for both, but on this night one clinical finish from Tengstedt was all that separated them. Catch the goal that settled it, and watch Excelsior's search for a first win grow more urgent by the week, in the highlights below.
